Keeping It Real (Part 1) : Jon Plowman : E-Day 2009 : Electricity Monitor Review


In this film Jon Plowman, the former head of BBC Comedy, explains how real-time energy saving displays work and, in his own unique way, covers some of the pros and cons of the different designs of device that are available in the UK. Real-time displays wirelessly collect information on how much electricity homes are using and how much this is costing. It has been found that homes which know how much they are spending are able to cut their electricity use by 10% – 20%. Depending on the size of house, a 10% saving on electricity bills equates to at least £60 – £90 per year, whilst a 20% saving equates to £120 – £180 per year.
